years delivering to NHS
Mikkom has been delivering systems to the UK's National Health Service (NHS) since 2003. It was one of the first companies in the UK to build and deliver an “NHS-grade” 2-way messaging platform, valued by NHS Hospital Trusts and the UK military alike, for its inherent security and ease-of-use.
In addition to its own internal rigorous testing, all Mikkom systems are externally penetration tested by independent specialist firms, as well as undergoing additional client-based testing, such as by individual Hospital IT departments, ahead of system deployment in the their networks.
Furthermore, Mikkom holds Cyber Essentials certification from the UK Government, confirming its adherence to the most stringent safety and security requirements that encompass the whole development environment.
Mikkom has always been ahead of its time. It was the first company in Europe to deliver a GUM (sexual health) focused “open access” online booking system directly to patients. The system also contained a unique triage capability, that automatically assessed a patient’s needs and matched the service required with the services available.
This functionality, which won several NHS Innovation awards when it was introduced, is still in widespread use in the UK today. Its eTriage and VQS systems were cited as examples of “best practice” in the plenary speech at World AIDS Congress in Quebec, in 2011.
In recent years Mikkom has branched out, both expanding into the private health sector while spreading its wings abroad.
It now delivers state-of-the-art booking systems to some of the largest, most prestigious corporations in the world, passing some of the toughest security audits in the process.
In 2012, Mikkom sold its first system to the Edmonton-based PCN in Alberta, Canada, and has since built on this success, offering it solutions across the North American continent.
